In Canada, a Level 1 Background Check, also commonly known as a Police Criminal Record Check (PCRC) or Clearance Letter, is the most basic level of criminal background check. It searches for criminal convictions on your record from the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) database, which is maintained by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)

Integrity Track Canada partners with many police departments across Canada to get name-based criminal record checks from the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC). CPIC is the only national source of criminal records in Canada.

Yes, in Canada, individuals can request their own criminal record check through an online process. Integrity Track provides an online solutions. This service allows individuals to request a copy of their criminal record check.

In Canada, a criminal record check itself does not have a fixed expiration date, as the information provided is a snapshot of an individual's criminal history at the time of the check. However, However, it's crucial to understand that the approval or validity of a criminal record check might be subject t to the policies and requirements of the organization or agency requesting it.

We carry out criminal background check, based on the name and Date of Birth of an applicant, utilizing the database of Canadian Police agencies. This criminal record search provides information about the criminal convictions of the applicant within the RCMP National Repository of Criminal Records, for which a pardon/record suspension has not been granted. All information discovered regarding the criminal record will be up to date till the date of the search.

The background check result will also contain voluntary disclosure of the record by the individual. A “Not Clear” determination during the checks will indicate confirmation of disclosure when provided by the individual.

Please note:

Details of criminal record convictions are not available in a Criminal Record check. Local police or accredited fingerprinting agencies release these details upon conducting fingerprint verification. Please feel free to contact Integrity Track.ca for further information.

Information excluded in a Criminal background check is as following:

  • Convictions where a pardon/ record suspension has been granted
  • Convictions due to mental disorder of the convict
  • Outstanding entries (i.e., charged and wanted person information)
  • Convictions under Provincial Statutes

Once your identity verification (electronic or physical) is complete, you will get the results for criminal record checks; unless we need additional information or need to follow up with you first.

This service only provides name-based criminal background check and does not include Vulnerable Sector Searches.

Make sure to look through both your inbox and your spam folder for an email message from your employer about the background check. It's crucial to check both folders to ensure you don't miss out on the email.

If your business requires screening that includes local police records, integritytrack.ca will have its police partners look through local police databases to determine additional information that might be useful for screening. If they discover any relevant information, you will need to contact the police directly to obtain it. In most of the cases, only the police service that has that information can give it to you. Afterward, you can share that information with the organization that requested it.

Privacy and Disputes

The update of records in the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) takes time and may lead to the display of non-upgraded information. If you want to dispute any piece of information in your report, please feel free to contact us at (1-888-278-5042) or email dispute at (support@integritytrack.ca) with your full name, name of the company that requested your background check, along with details of your dispute.

After Your Individual Background Check

Your results will be sent to the email address you provided during registration. Make sure to check your spam folder just in case!

If the check is submitted through a landing page or an organization invitation, the results will be automatically shared with the organization.

Instead of specifying an expiration date, we consider Criminal Record Checks valid from their date of issuance. The organization that requested the background check determines its validity. If they think the time period till the last criminal check is too long, they can ask for a renewal.

Your integritytrack.ca profile displays your criminal history up to the last conducted search. You can update it only each time you conduct a Criminal Record Check. It's important to note that If you're in a pardon process or have had any changes to your criminal record made by the RCMP. It takes time to process and enter data and it depends on the crime's jurisdiction.
